Caught with a former colleague and good friend who runs a well known media business.
The core of the conversation was about the digital evolution of analogue businesses.
Its great to see some pioneers who are doing things like:
– thinking of themselves as content creators and distributors and NOT advertisers or media owners
– using mobile to distribute content
– moving from mass-marketing to genuine 121 thinking, analysis and communications
– taking on the challenge of taking the language and data to comms agencies

All good stuff but the real value was some guidance. It was interesting to hear about what drives legacy creation.

Legacy or the desire to create and grow something new should come before value creation.

Its probably why there is a draw to all things digital in the first place.

We in the business of digital evangelism should sometimes think about why we do it.
